MRH Ranked High by On-line School Resource Site
Niche, an on-line resource which helps parents assess public and private K-12 schools nationwide, has ranked Maplewood Richmond Heights the 13th best school district in Missouri.
The web site based its ranking on MRH’s high test scores, student-teacher ratio, and reviews from parents and students. Letter grades were awarded in a variety of categories. “A” grades were given for diversity, academics, teachers, college prep, and health and safety. Clubs and activities rated a “B+.”
Niche also published student testimonials on its rankings site (www.niche.com), including this one:
“Maplewood prepared me for being a global citizen and taught me to be a critical thinker better than my college did! I came to university more aware of many issues. My education at MRH was far more thought provoking, well rounded, and enriched than that of my liberal arts education at college. MRH helped me develop leadership skills. MRH provides resources to its students and fosters a strong, well connected community.”
Just over two square miles in size and serving portions of the cities of Maplewood and Richmond Heights, MRH is one of the smallest districts in the area with one of the highest percentages of national board certified teachers in the county. MRH builds quality relationships with parents while small class sizes help students succeed. Test scores have increased across the district and the high school has nearly doubled the number of college prep courses being offered. The district implements professional development in social justice and culturally responsive teaching.
