MRH Middle Schooler Named Regional PGA Junior Player of Year

The Gateway Chapter of the Junior PGA has named Kal Kolar its player of the year, following a season in which the MRH 8th grader finished no lower than 2nd in six major tournaments in 2017.

Kolar, 14, amassed a point total of 202.50, 65 ahead of his nearest competitor on the circuit.  In his 18-hole category, he finished 1st in tournaments at The Legends, Quarry at Crystal Springs, Annbriar, and Gateway National.  He finished 2nd at Greenbriar Hills and Winghaven.  

While Kolar's scoring average was an astonishing 74.2, he did shoot one round in the 60's. 

The Gateway PGA is one of 41 sections of the PGA of America. The mission of the Gateway PGA, which comprises more than 335 professionals at 200 facilities in eastern and central Missouri and southern Illinois, is to provide educational and financial opportunities while promoting golf at all age levels.
